Whimsical Shed Makeover | Pink Interior, String Lights & Creative Charm

Remember a while back when I shared the first part of my shed transformation…the pink shed interior makeover? (Tap here to see.)

That was when I painted the entire inside a joyful shade of pink and laid down leftover vinyl flooring from our cabin. It already looked brighter, fresher, and way more “me.”  But I wasn’t finished—because a plain pink shed with a new floor was just the beginning.

This little building has now fully blossomed into a magical, multipurpose space: part gym, part garden shed, and part whimsical hideaway.

Mixing Function with Fun

One of my goals was to make this shed work hard for me while still bringing me joy every time I open the doors. It needed to store garden tools, weights, and random supplies, but I also wanted it to feel like a creative retreat.

I started by bringing in architectural salvage pieces and vintage art prints to hang on the walls. They give it that collected-over-time look I love. I found all these items at local antique shops. A wreath with bold red blooms and a cheerful gingham bow hangs at the center, anchoring the wall with a burst of color.

And of course, I couldn’t resist throwing in a couple of old chairs—it wouldn’t be a Chair Whimsy space without them!

Light Without Electricity

Because the shed doesn’t have electricity, I had to get creative about lighting. I strung up warm string lights powered by a portable power station, and then painted an old chandelier to hang overhead. Instead of wiring it, I nestled in battery-operated candles. The effect is pure magic—soft, cozy light that makes the whole space glow in the evenings.

A Whimsical Welcome

The inside isn’t the only cheerful part. On the outside, I painted colorful flowers around the blue shed and added a big hand-painted “hello” across the top. (Tap here if you missed that makeover.) A bright floral doormat greets you at the steps, and when the pink doors swing open, it feels like stepping into a little world of color and charm.

The Perfect Blend

This shed is now one of my favorite places on our property. It’s practical—I can lift weights, stash tools, and store supplies—but it’s also inspiring. Surrounded by art, color, and quirky touches, I can’t help but feel energized every time I step inside.

If you’ve been dreaming of transforming a utilitarian space into something that reflects your personality, this is your permission slip. A coat of paint, leftover flooring, and some creative lighting can completely change how you use and feel about a space.
