My PINK Kitchen Makeover

Let me begin by saying my old kitchen was great. I loved it for many years. We’ve been in our home for over 12 years now. I painted the kitchen walls black the month I moved in. The kitchen could handle the dark walls because the cabinets were all white and there was a lot of light coming in the windows.

But it was time for a change. And AJ Madison pitched me an idea of getting a new refrigerator and range, so I was in!

Full disclosure, I never endorse anything I don’t absolutely love—but this was a no-brainer! AJ Madison is a delight to work with and always has fabulous products.

I worked with AJ Madison last year on a campaign to promote the new Smeg refrigerator. You might remember how I wrapped it using Carrie Schmitt’s art?

That was a fun project for me. So when AJ Madison reached out about another collaboration with Samsung, I jumped on it. Our appliances in our kitchen were over 21 years old. I knew they wouldn’t last much longer.

It started with getting a pink refrigerator. I was all in!

Let me say I LOVE this refrigerator. It has a beverage center hidden in the door. A freezer down below that produces two sizes of ice. A center drawer that can be used for drinks or other refrigerated items.

And it has plenty of room. My husband said he was “tickled pink” over this! Ha ha!  The Samsung refrigerator can be found here.  (Order the pink glass panels below.)

Samsung also provided us with a new range. It has a double oven inside that can cook at two different temperatures. Look at how the doors can flex depending on what you need.

There is a divider that enables the oven to operate this way.

You can air fry food, too. The top has five burners and the center one has a griddle that can be removed. I’m loving this! The Samsung range can be found here.

Because I knew I was getting a pink fridge, I decided to remake the other side of the kitchen…you know, the part where it was dark.  I wasn’t going to replace the curtains. That would be too expensive, and anyway, I needed something to tie to my black countertops.

And I already had some wallpaper on one panel and inside my glass cabinets. Whatever I chose, it needed to work with this other wallpaper.

I opted for this great wallpaper by Schumacher called Joan. (There is a fabric in this print too). It’s graphic and works with my other graphic wallpaper in my living room.

The chandelier is the Very Chihuahua Chandelier from Stray Dog Designs in a custom color.

I had to bring in a little more black so that my curtains would tie to everything. So I chose this fun Schumacher fabric, Wild Things to recover my chairs. It’s both whimsical and graphic.

I changed up the settee fabric on top so that the print wouldn’t compete with the wallpaper. This is also a Schumacher fabric.

I also brought in a jute rug with a black scalloped trim. That, along with the settee seat in black gave the space enough black to make my curtains still work in the space.

My fun little head vases I got in Norway still work in the space…that makes me happy! (See my link below for kitchen items)

It is very different than it used to be, but both spaces are equally great. It’s just nice to switch things up a bit after 12 years.

The new space is definitely brighter and puts a big smile on my face.

I’ve put together a list of my favorite kitchen things…many of these I have in my own kitchen. If you are interested in any of my kitchen products (or fun picks), you can shop it on my LTK: click here.
