The Retreat for Creative Businesses

Last week Sara (from Simply Southern Cottage) and I welcomed 16 women to our PINK Creatives Retreat. Just like last spring, we met at the Frenchie Boutique Hotel in Round Top, Texas for a magical three days. The retreat is for women who own (or want to own) creative businesses. Participants come needing inspiration and direction, but they leave with so much more.

The PINK in PINK Creatives stands for Play, Inspire, Niche, and Know-How. Everything we teach aligns with those core values that both Sara and I have built our creative businesses on.

We had a private chef, Blake Jackson, on the property who fixed amazing meals, drinks, and snacks…No one went hungry!

Dinner gave us the time to talk about anything and everything including family, business, and our personal lives.

You can’t beat those Texas nights in October! The evenings were cool, and so we ate dinner on the long back porch both nights.

Sara and I make ourselves available 100% of the time we are there. So many great conversations happen over food.

Our goal is for the attendees to form valuable relationships so that they will have people to call/text to bounce around ideas, get support, and celebrate with them when goals are achieved.

Because Sara and I have both been teachers, we know how to pause and let everyone discuss how what we teach applies to their situations.

Discussion is an important part of processing information and having breakthroughs. It takes courage to invest in your creative businesses. And we (women) are known for putting ourselves last. But making the investment to attend a business retreat always pays off.

Sara and I are lucky that our audiences (I’m talking about YOU) are wonderful, supportive women.

It’s a time to ask questions, be vulnerable, and find the support/answers needed. Sara and I don’t hold anything back…we share it all with the hopes that it will help these younger business grow successfully.

We also had Dennah, our own brand photographer, on site who took headshot images so these women can use them for their businesses.

All the pictures you see here on this page came from Dennah’s amazing camera!

Dennah has a special talent for drawing out the best in her subjects.

Our time together is always jam-packed, but we also take time to play a little bit—because we believe in Play! We made our way down to some flea market shopping in Round Top and it did not disappoint.

One of the fun things Sara and I did this time around was to organize a pajama party the second night. That was fun!

The pool and hot tub gave some of us unscheduled time to just rest and chat. How can you not be inspired here?

Most importantly, these women–who did not know one another when they stepped foot on this property—have formed a life-long support system.

They walk away different women who have the tools, friendships, and inspiration to take on the challenge of running a creative business.

We’ve all been to conferences when you get free stuff, but unfortunately most of that is crap. Not here! I can’t say enough about the amazing swag that came from Frances Valentine, Bando, Light and Airy, Redland Cotton, Antique Candle Company, Laurel Emory, and Niven Morgan. We went away spoiled!

We can’t wait to host our next one in the spring. The doors will open to that at the beginning of November. So, if you have a creative business or want to have one, be sure to get on our waitlist by clicking here. You won’t want to miss this amazing opportunity when it comes around again.
