The Living Room | My Whimsical Cabin Makeover

The living room was just a blank space and ready for some personality. And my goal was to do just that!

I started with selecting a sofa first. You’ve heard by now that I love red and white striped sofas, so I went on the hunt to find one.

The entire design of the cabin started with this sofa. It was my big splurge in the cabin. You can check it out here.

I selected the Harbor Stripe in lobster red, which currently is no longer available. However, you could submit a custom fabric.

I also got these cute pink and red pillows which was just the right thing.

I painted the walls Dockside Blue by Sherwin Williams. It was a better look than the muted green. It also complimented my rug, which is a one of kind piece, but you can a few similar ones here.

From there, I hunted down a few side tables and found each of these for $10. I painted one pink and the other blue.

I wanted a unique coffee table and happened to find this lobster trap on Facebook Marketplace for $80. I snatched it up and brought it home for a good cleaning.

I took the legs from one of the small tables, painted them red, and put them on the bottom of the coffee table so it wouldn’t sit so low.

Then, I went on the hunt for lobster buoys and painted them to match the room’s decor. I added white scalloped trays for the top so we could put our drinks down.

I filled the trap with the buoys and added fairy lights to bring it to life.

It works together so well!

I took two arm chairs from my storage back home and upholstered them in a fun Molly Mahon by Schumacher block print.

These two chairs are the perfect addition to the room.

I love how the original gold leaf contrasts with the rustic cabin.  And it worked so well with my other Molly Mahon fabric I used for the curtains in the cabin.

I didn’t want to deal with cords in the middle of the room, so one of the best things I got was this cordless lamp from Pooky Lighting.

I got the base in a hot pink lacquer and the top shade in a fun ikat print. You can check it out here.

I found some swimsuit art as well as a beach scene with all the right colors in watercolor from Etsy. You can check them out here.

Just look at the difference from the before picture to the after picture!

What started as an empty space is now filled with color. Can you believe this transformation?

I’ve got more cabin room makeovers from the past month on my blog.

As always, I would love to hear your thoughts on this space. Could you live with this?  Stay tuned next week for another room makeover!
