Holiday Chairs in Color

What makes my job interesting is experimenting with ideas. Sometimes an idea just pops in my head and I think on it for a long time…always keeping the textiles within eyes reach because I’m such a visual thinker. Back this summer I purchased four Mexican textiles in various shades of pinks and purples. And then I began thinking of what I wanted to do. I had a vision to put them on white chairs—something I’ve never done before—to create a lighter, brighter, boho-chic look.

With the pink textile above, I knew I wanted a rosy red seat. I love red and pink together. But other than that, I didn’t know when I started on these chairs which other combos I would end up with.

Then I decided that a purple seat would be on the chair above. I always draw out a color from the textile for the seats…that’s my general rule. These two chairs were done first.

Then, I upholstered the remaining two chairs with only the textiles on top. I put them all next to each other and tried out a bunch of ideas…yellow, orange, blue, pink, bright green. Each chair not only had to work color-wise, the combo of the four chairs had to work together.

I didn’t want some chairs to be too light and others to be too dramatic. They all needed to be bright and balanced.

The final chairs ended up with a bright blue and hot pink on the seats. The brightness of each one plays off the other.

Then, I added in fun welt cord taken from the top textile. It’s big and bulky, but it gives each chair an extra bit of whimsy.

Paying attention to these little details are what takes a chair from good to amazing.

I love the idea of them at a farmhouse table of any color or stain. They definitely brighten up the space.

Or you could dress them up with a gold metal table. They are so versatile and fun. Boho chic doesn’t mean it has to be dark and moody. It can be bright and fun. The Mexican textiles give you the permission to have some fun!

How can you not smile when seeing these?

They feel like holiday chairs to me, even though they would work for anytime during the year…and they are available! You can check them out by clicking here.

I’m wishing you a Happy Holiday, Friend!
