Boho & French…an Ideal Pair

It’s no secret how much I love chairs. After all, I’ve launched my own line of high-end dining chairs this past summer and I have an Etsy shop where I customize vintage and antique furniture for clients…something I’ve been doing for 6 years!

But I also love fabric just as much as I love chairs. You can have a beautiful chair, but if you don’t use the right fabric, you won’t get the look you are after. I am always on the hunt for something unique and I thoroughly enjoy spending time at the local to-the-trade vendor browsing through thousands of fabrics for my clients so they can get the best look on their pieces. I also spend lots of time online searching for fabrics and some of my most favorite ones are one-of-a-kind pieces like this one below.

I’ve been saving this fabric, which I found online from Uzbekistan, for quite a while now. And I had a settee which needed a fabric…but the dilemma was do I do what is safe, which I know for sure looks great and put the other fabric on it, or do I go for a new look?

Before I go on, let me just say how I love mixing French antique styles with unique fabrics to get a boho look. It is an unexpected, relaxed look and I can’t get enough of it!

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen this poll a few days ago when I was struggling with my dilemma. I knew that the pink would be spectacular, I’ve used it before with this exact settee frame.

But could it look good with the new fabric, too? Here’s a little insight into how I make my decisions. I’m very visual, so I have to drape it, to see it, to know what I want to really do. It took a little bit of time and I decided to make the leap and go with the dark one.

Here she is!

It’s definitely a darker look with the black background. I didn’t change the wood at all, just kept it in its original condition which has a boho vibe.

The old wood stain was the perfect backdrop for the fabric. I do spend a lot of time thinking about finishes, and I’m convinced no other finish would do it justice like this one.

I’m glad I took the leap for a new look. I’m sure plenty of us will love one better than the other, but it’s fun trying out new looks. And the best part is that it’s available for purchase on my Etsy shop! Click here to get the details!
