Black—a.k.a. The Drama Queen
Years ago, I heard someone say that every room needs a little black. Over the past several years, I’ve adhered to that rule. I find black in almost every room in my house—however it wasn’t necessarily intentional at first. There’s no doubt about it; black is a strong color. But, you don’t have to coat the entire room in black to make a difference. Used in just small amounts, black can add drama to any room. Here’s a few ideas for using black in your favorite spaces.
Consider using a black sofa in your room. It will ground the living space and allow the other items to pop.
If you are really daring, add a stripe accent wall in black and white. Then, layer in white, gold, silver, and a little pop of color.
If that’s just too much for you, add a black island to an all white kitchen. The black is repeated in the hood and in stripes on the floor. So subtle, but so dramatic too.
Paint your window trim black. What I love about this space are the subtle black trimmed windows. It’s definitely drama added in a very small dose.
So go ahead and make the daring move to incorporate black in your rooms. In whatever ways you choose to use black—be it bold or in small doses—you can know that drama will surely follow.
