A few weeks back, before quarantine, I helped wallpaper a neighbor’s cabinet. We had extra wallpaper left over from Anthropologie, so I snatched it up and began looking for a project around my house. It didn’t take long before I decided to use it in my kitchen above my functioning cabinets.

Honestly, I’ve never really known what to do with these cabinets. I half-heartedly put a few things up there, but never spent much time or thought to styling it.

I began by cleaning out the cabinets and removing the shelving. The wallpaper is not pre-pasted, so I applied the paste and measured the right length of each paper and cut it with my xacto knife.

The wallpaper part didn’t take too long, but the styling certainly did! I spent hours trying out different props. Here’s what I landed on for now.

I noticed that I liked some wood tones in the cabinets. It seemed to play well with the pink wallpaper as did anything rustic.

White objects tended to look better too and not compete so much with the colors in the wallpaper.

I bought some lights on Amazon that are controlled by a remote to brighten up the cabinets. Boy, what a difference it made!

Basically I just shopped my house today, looking for new ways to use old things. Are you shopping your house too right now? It’s going to be nice in here in the early morning with these lights on! I’m looking forward to coffee time!
