The Eclectic Farmhouse Look

The Eclectic Farmhouse is one of my favorite looks to create! It is one of the most fun styles because it has that “anything goes” mentality. Mix and match is key to getting this style right in your home. The goal is to make it look casual and effortless, and you really only need to get a few things right to achieve that goal.

Step 1: Mix different chair frames with different stains and paint colors. This unusual mix makes such an impact on the dining space! The photos in my styling guide are a great example of the way the different curves of the chair frames, the different paints and stains, all come together for the start of this eclectic look.

Step 2: Use a variety of floral fabrics. Using different but cohesive fabrics can create this eclectic look as well. It doesn’t even have to be on chairs to create this. You can mix and match throw pillows, dishes, and even different collections of coffee table books!

Step 3: Dishes! Oh bring on the dishes!!! We all know Chair Whimsy loves a good dish! For this particular style, I recommend using a more subtle dish. A solid, or a dot print. While we love the mix and match that comes with the eclectic farmhouse style, the finishing touches, like the dishes, should not overpower the other patterns and silhouettes.

Make sure all other other details in your space are neutral including the wall paint. Pair the chairs with a farmhouse table and a jute rug. Finish the space with a vase of florals, and bam— you’ve got an Eclectic Farmhouse look!
