My Song of 2025: Waking Up Dreaming by Shania Twain

There’s something magical about choosing a song that will become your anthem for the year ahead. While others select words to guide their journey, I’ve found that music speaks to me in a way that mere words cannot.  Since 2017, each year of my entrepreneurial journey has had its own soundtrack, and 2025 will be no different.

As I reflect on my musical journey, each song tells a chapter of my story. It began with Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” in 2017, when my chair business was just a dream I desperately wanted to pursue. The Eagles’ “Already Gone” marked my bold leap into entrepreneurship in 2018, and Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” captured the exhilarating momentum of 2019 as my business found its footing.

Through the years, my songs have been both mirrors and motivators. “What a Feeling” celebrated success in 2020, while “Eye of the Tiger” kept me focused through 2021’s reinvention. “Gonna Fly Now” gave me the persistence I needed in 2022, and Shania Twain’s “Swingin’ with my Eyes Closed” pushed me beyond my comfort zone in 2023.

This past year, Taylor Swift’s “You’re on Your Own Kid” helped me navigate personal loss and reminded me of my own resilience.

For 2025, I’m choosing Shania Twain’s “Waking Up Dreaming” as my anthem. This isn’t just another song choice – it’s a declaration of intent. After years of building, persisting, and overcoming, I’m ready to embrace a new kind of success: one that’s measured not just in business achievements, but in moments of joy, creativity, and authentic living.

“Waking Up Dreaming” embodies everything I want 2025 to be. It’s about that magical space where dreams and reality merge, where we don’t just chase our aspirations but live them. The song’s energy and lyrics speak to me about embracing life’s possibilities while staying grounded in the present moment.

This year, I’m committed to:

  • Pursuing creative endeavors that light up my soul
  • Finding wonder in the everyday moments
  • Connecting deeply with my authentic self
  • Living fully and presently, not just planning for the future

Looking back at my song choices over the years, I can see how each one marked a different stage of growth: from the initial leap of faith to perseverance, from professional success to personal resilience. Now, with “Waking Up Dreaming,” I’m ready for a year of living vibrantly and authentically.

They say life is not about the destination but the journey. My musical tradition has been a testament to that truth, with each song marking not just a year, but a chapter in my ongoing story. As 2025 approaches, I’m not just dreaming anymore – I’m waking up to live those dreams, one day at a time.
