Soft Pink Meets Bold Art: A Chair Makeover with Laura Park Designs

From dusty and forgotten to delightfully dreamy—this vintage chair didn’t just get a makeover, it got a moment. With a little paint, a splash of faux fur, and the star of the show—fabric by Laura Park Designs—this piece now brings joy, color, and artful flair into any room.

The Before: Rough, Worn, and Forgotten

I found this old frame outside while at our summer cabin, and let’s just say… she had potential, but not much else. The wood was chipped and lifeless, the seat long gone. But that curvy shape? It had character. So, I brought her home for a little TLC.

A Pretty Pink Transformation

After some light sanding and repairs, I coated the entire frame in Soft Pink by Dixie Belle Paint—a sweet, soft blush tone that feels lighthearted but elegant. Already, she started looking more alive.

The Star: Laura Park Designs Fabric 🎨

The real magic happened when I upholstered the chair back in fabric from Laura Park Designs. If you’re new to her work—Laura is a gifted artist who turns her expressive, abstract paintings into fabric by the yard (and a host of other items!). Her prints feel joyful, sophisticated, and fresh all at once.

This one, in particular, Amber Fresco, spoke to me with its painterly floral effect and bold mix of colors. It has that kaleidoscopic symmetry I love—a piece of art that just so happens to be… fabric!  Fabric placement was tough only because there were so many great choices!

The Fluffy Seat Moment

Instead of traditional upholstery, I went for pink Mongolian fur for the seat. It’s playful, tactile, and adds a luxe softness to balance out the vivid back. It’s the kind of seat that makes you want to plop down and feel fabulous.

Finished and Fabulous

This chair is now brimming with color, creativity, and personality. Whether it ends up in a bedroom corner or brightens up a reading nook, it’s sure to start conversations—and maybe inspire others to try their hand at reviving a piece of their own.

More Ways I’m Using Laura Park Fabric

I didn’t stop with just the chair. Back at home, I used Laura Park Designs fabric for throw pillows in my living room. They look stunning against my black leather sofa and pair perfectly with other bold textures and colors.  I used Golden Hour fabric, but honestly she has so many gorgeous ones that I could have picked. These colors looked amazing with my other decor in the room.

Seeing that same fabric on a chair at the cabin and again on pillows at home ties everything together—reminding me that joyful design doesn’t have to stay in one space. It can travel with you. 💖

Here’s a peek at those pillows in action…
