Chairs with a Cause: Raising $12,000 for a Local Food Shelter
On Thursday this week, I had the honor of taking a check over $12k over to the Round Rock Serving Center…it’s a food shelter just around the corner from my house. I’ve wanted to do it for years, and I finally had the right project to do it.

It started out as a celebration of getting tickets to the Eras Tour this past year with my daughters. We’ve all been Swifties since Taylor Swift’s first album drop. We would listen to her music on the radio as I was driving them to school. And we finally got lucky and scored 3 tickets to the concert of the century. This is us with our friendship bracelets before the concert.

When this happened I declared that I was going to create an Eras chair to celebrate it. But my youngest daughter said I should make one for each era (album). So I took her up on the offer.
If Taylor Swift’s music was on a chair, what would it look like?
You can see the results…

These chairs even landed on the cover of this fall’s What Women Create Magazine. This is my very first magazine cover, so I’ve been pretty excited about it!

Friends from all over are still sending me pictures of their kids holding my magazine.

I also ended up on the news that aired across the entire state of Texas back in October. You can watch it here.

Then, I hosted a big party at my home where Swifties from all around came to celebrate.

We even had my chairs on the cookies…and they were delicious!

I met so many new friends…aren’t these 3 sisters the cutest???

The chairs were on display in my workshop. And then they went up for auction to the highest bidder.

And that’s how this check came to be. This Lori Scott, the executive director of the Round Rock Serving Center. I went by on Thursday to deliver it in person.

They serve 1200 families each month. And when I walked in, there were families waiting there to get food. It reminded me of how blessed I am. So, thank you to everyone who commented on my posts, shared the chairs, bid on the auction, and came to the party. Together we can make a difference in people’s lives.
