When it comes to setting the perfect holiday table, there’s nothing quite like the charm of Nordic design to make your space feel festive, cozy, and delightfully whimsical. This year, I drew inspiration from the vibrant and playful world of Gudrun Sjödén’s designs to create a tablescape bursting with color, personality, and a touch of magic.

A Red Cup Celebration

The stars of the table are Gudrun’s red festive cups, each decorated with cheerful fruit motifs.

From cheerful oranges to juicy cherries and plump, whimsical pomegranates, these cups bring a pop of color and personality to the setting.

Each sip feels like a toast to the season’s abundance—and trust me, they’re just as delightful filled with hot cocoa as they are with mulled wine!  They come in two colors and you can see more about them by clicking here.

A Tablecloth Full of Cheer

To anchor the table, I chose Gudrun’s fruit-patterned tablecloth.

Centerpiece Magic

No holiday table is complete without a centerpiece, and for this one, I went all out with an assortment of their paper maché ornaments.

These hand painted ornaments create a landscape of holiday wonder in a variety of colors.

The Star Above It All

Suspended above the table, a large red paper star in a matching fruit pattern and winter birds completes the look. It’s bold, joyful, and serves as a reminder to look up and let your holiday spirit shine. Chairs That Steal the Show

The dining chairs got a festive makeover with Gudrun’s dark ash grey fabric, also adorned with vibrant fruit designs.

 

Reupholstering the chairs was a labor of love—and wow, was it worth it! This fabric comes in both the tomato red and the dark ash gray in a heavy organic cotton and is sold by the yard. You can check it out here.

 

The playful fruit patterns tie in beautifully with the cups and bring a sense of cohesion to the table.
