If you are looking to get original fabric for chairs (or any project), collaborating with an artist is the way to go. I’ve done this before a few years ago—and now I’ve done it again. This time I worked with the amazing artist, Lori Siebert.

Some time this past year Lori reached out about doing a collaboration. She had so many great prints to choose from, and I ended up picking 4 favorites. Here’s a little bit about the chairs and my design process.

I’m always a sucker for checked fabrics mixed with florals. And this multi-floral fabric had so many options as far as color, but I chose to draw out the red for the seat. I couldn’t be happier with it. I lovingly call this my breakfast chair. The welt in the red/white was a perfect addition to bring even more whimsy to the chair.

I took the same cue for this floral in pink and green. But I changed up the finish for more of a natural look, which I really love. I decided the top needed the same check for the top welt cord. It just adds a little extra something to the look.

Perhaps the most bold look is the wild print above. But I didn’t let that stop me; I chose to paint the frame in a soft pink, Verbena by Sherwin Williams. The backside has a cute Kate Spade dot fabric to make it extra fun.

This final chair is definitely defined by the Dragon Fruit Sherwin Williams paint. But the fabric is gorgeous! I chose to off-set the print to the side to give it more of an artistic feel. And I even decided that the trim should have a bit of check just because we have another floral. Can you see the pattern of behavior here?

The backsides are a variety with two of them repeating the same florals on the back. The other two chairs have a more whimsical neutral fabric with chartreuse dots and pink/white flowers.

I couldn’t be happier with these super fun chairs which will be for sale in my shop very soon. Working with amazing artists like Lori Siebert can give your chairs something that no one else has exactly…amazing personality.
